These unusual earrings feature genuine mammoth ivory beads,
turquoise, and red breciated jasper beads.
This design was created in sterling silver.
The earrings dangle approximately 1” from the French hook
style ear wires. Mammoth ivory beads are 6mm each.
Mammoth Ivory is not the ivory (or tusks) of today’s elephant.
It is from an ancient ancestor…the Woolly Mammoth
which lived in the Ice Age a million years ago.
Its great curving tusks measured 13 ft. long. After the animal
died, its tusks were preserved in a fossilization process.
These beads are formed from fossil material.
